There is fine fishing in the tributaries of Grout pond and Somerset reservoir, Cross Country skiers can enjoy their own Catamount Trail designed specifically for cross country skiing, extending from The Mass boarder to Canada. Many VAST trails are present for the snowmobile lovers in Stratton as well.
Grout Pond is easily accessible for hiking, kayaking, swimming, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and camping, some sites have lean-to’s, tent platforms and barbequing facilities.
Many of the aforementioned trails meet at or near the Kelly Stand Road, also known as the Stratton-Arlington Road near Grout Pond. A concession stand is set up on weekends and holidays in winter in this area.
The town also has a Recreation Center including soccer and baseball fields, cross country, snowshoe, and snowmobile trails, a basketball court which is transformed into an ice skating rink in the winter, sledding hill and playground. Residents have access to a fire pit and shelter for warming hands and toasting marsh mellows.
Stratton is home to Stratton Mountain Resort, a top-notch ski area with a world-class base village including shops, crafts, and fine dining. Unknown to many, the southeast corner of Stratton borders West Dover, and is only two miles to The Mount Snow ski resort.
